Twitter

ENGLISH VERSION BELOW

Not too long ago, I published a post about how to put a comment on a blog, as a part of my blog basic topics for newbies in the blog world. This time I will talk about twitter. You've probably already seen the twitter icon (usually a bird) that says "follow me," or something similar, which, when you click on it, opens a new window with the twitter ID of the blogger you are visiting.

Twitter is a way of communicating with other people through short messages, no longer than 140 characters, called tweets. To use twitter you just have to sign up for a free account and search for friends or other people you would like to follow. With a simple click, you can become a "follower" and after this you will start "seeing" the tweets of those you are following and viceversa; when people start to "follow you" they will start "seeing" your tweets, that's it.

Lately, Twitter has increased in popularity because of so many famous people using it, some high profile political situations around the globe, and because of recent health scares (like the swine flu). I like Twitter because I'm meeting a lot of very interesting folks around the world and with just one tweet I can reach all of them. Also, I have hundreds of people I can ask if I need a quick answer to something. I get the benefit of their collective experience and their answers are usually more precise than a search engine's. Don't forget to add me to your "following" page when you get your account, my ID is @mamalatina.
