La semana pasada mi familia y yo tuvimos la oportunidad de ver la película "Alvin and the Chipmunks, the Squeakquel" ¡a qué bien nos la pasamos! de más está decir que a todos los miembros de esta familia nos encanta ver películas. Si eres mamá con niños chiquitos, sabes bien que ir al cine es medio complicado cuando tienes a un niño de dos años corriendo de arriba a abajo en las escaleras del cinema. Asi que ver películas en casa es una de nuestras actividades familiares favoritas.

Lo que a mis hijos les encanta de la película, además de las simpáticas ardillitas, es toda la música y baile. Mi hijo mayor está en una etapa muy linda donde se pone a bailar y a inventar sus propios pasos, y con esta película ¡se dió vuelo! y el chiquitín no se diga, nada mas oye música y empieza a moverse. En un momento en el que fui a otro cuarto por algo, mi esposo vino y me dijo " ven a ver al chiquito, se ve super gracioso, porque como que tiene el mismo cuerpo de las ardillitas y se mueve como ellas" asi que vine corriendo para verlo, se veía comiquísimo. :)

Me gusta cuando los DVD vienen con las opciones de lenguaje y subtítulos en español. Practicar español lo mas que podamos en esta casa es primordial, así que la función de lenguaje es de mucha ayuda para que mis hijos sigan asimilando el idioma. Y los subtítulos son esenciales cuando viene mi familia de México, todos podemos pasar un rato familiar viendo una película sin barreras del idioma.

Bueno, ahora les cuento un poco mas de detalles empezando por la sinopsis: "Cuando un contratiempo en un concierto manda a Dave al hospital, las ardillas deciden tomarse un descanso del estrellato y deciden matricularse en el colegio para convivir con niños de su edad. Sin embargo, se enfrentan a una fuerte competencia cuando conocen a las Chipettes - un hermoso y talentoso trio de ardillas que fueron descubiertas por Ian, ¡el malvado ex-manager de los chicos!"

El disco con materiales adicionales viene cargado de divertidas secciones, a nosotros particularmente nos gustaron dos, "A-Nut-omy de una escena", donde explican el proceso de creación de las ardillitas y sus posiciones dentro de la película, y "Shake Your Groove Thing - con Rosero", donde enseñan paso por paso la coreografía para poder bailar con las ardillitas. Por supuesto que también los videos musicales con las canciones "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," "We are family," y "Shake your groove thing" fueron del agrado de mi hijo mayor, quien los puso, una y otra y otra y otra vez.

Ahora si lo que quieres es "ardillizarte", checa la página de Alvin y las ardillas en español donde puedes crear tu propia ardilla, ponerle voz y escuchar canciones, entre otras cosas.

Este divertido Blu-Ray Disc/DVD saldrá a la venta el 30 de marzo y viene en varias presentaciones y precios para todos los gustos. Mientras tanto, seguro que a tus hijos les gusta colorear ¿verdad? puedes dar click en cualquiera de los nombres para imprimir las imágenes: Alvin, Simon, Theodore, Brittany, Jeanette, y Eleanor.

Going to the movies is not easy when you have a toddler, running down the stairs in the theater and all. That's why DVDs at home are one of our favorite family activities. A few days ago my family and I had the opportunity to watch "Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel" on DVD. We had a great time! We love movies!

What my kids enjoyed the most, besides the very cute and funny chipmunks, were the music and dancing. My oldest is getting very creative with his dance moves and with this movie he really hit the floor! My toddler looked so funny dancing that my husband said he looked just like one of the chipmunks, very funny to watch!

I like when DVDs come with options for both dubbing and subtitles in Spanish because my kids can practice their Spanish, and, if I have family visiting from Mexico, we can all enjoy a family movie without the language barrier.

Now here's a short synopsis of "Alvin and the Chipmunks, the Squeakquel": When a concert mishap lands Dave in the hospital, the Chipmunks take a break from superstardom and enroll in school to fit in with kids their age. But they soon face some stiff competition when they meet the Chipettes - a beautiful, talented trio of chipmunks discovered by Ian, the boys' evil ex-manager!

The second disc in the two disc set has lots of special features, we specially like two, A-Nut-Omy of a scene, where you can see the process of bringing the chipmunks and chipettes alive; and, Shake Your Groove thing with Rosero, where you can follow step by step choreography so you can dance like a chipmunk! Of course the music is a big hit with songs like "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," "We Are Family," and "Shake Your Groove Thing."

Now if what you want is to get "munked," visit the Alvin and the Chipmunks' webpage where you can create your own chipmunk or chipette using your own voice, play games, get the iPhone app, and more!

El guión de esta película esta basado en los libros "Aventuras de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas" (1865) y "A través del espejo" (1871) de Lewis Carroll.

Sinopsis

Mi esposo me comentó a media semana que quería ir al cine a ver Avatar. Yo había escuchado hablar sobre esta película pero, sinceramente, no le había puesto mucha atención. Así que ni tarda ni perezosa me fui a la computadora a checar el corto de la película, ¡me encantó! y como ni me gusta ir a al cine (mentira, mentira) pues le hablé a varios de nuestros amigos para ver si alguien mas se animaba a ir con nosotros. Finalmente el día llego y juntos nuestros amigos, y nosotros nos fuimos al cine a verla, ¡wow! la vimos en 3D (no recuerdo cuando fue la última vez que vi una película en 3D, pero me acuerdo que en aquella ocasión usé los lentes esos de cartón que nunca se acomodan a las orejas y los tienes que sostener todo el tiempo para que no se caigan) Definitivamente tienes que verla en 3D.

La historia me recordó un poco un par de películas que he visto (que no mencionaré para no arruinarles el show), pero muchos de los efectos, imágenes, y personajes es algo que no había visto antes. Last week my husband mentioned to me his interest in going to the movies to see "Avatar". I'd heard about it, but, honestly I didn't know exactly what it was about. Then I watched the trailer and I was hooked! I called some friends to ask if they would like to join us. We bought tickets for the 3D show, definitely a must (I don't remember the last time I got to watch a movie in 3D, but I do remember using those old 3D cardboard glasses that never stayed on and I had to hold them the whole time).

The story line was reminiscent of a couple of other movies I've seen (don't worry, I won't mention them here) but there were lots of characters, effects, and images that were completely new to me. Definitely a movie you have to see. Here is the trailer.

Prepárense porque el 11 de Diciembre se estrenará a nivel nacional en los Estados Unidos, y seguro muy pronto en latinoamérica y España le película número 95 de los Estudios Disney, "La Princesa y el Sapo", perfecta para toda la familia.

Esta película es el regreso a la animación hecha a mano, los cuentos de hadas clásicos y el musical. Se desarrolla en la bella ciudad de Nueva Orleans y es musicalizada por el aclamado compositor y ganador del Oscar, Randy Newman, quien ha compuesto la música de bellas películas como "Toy Story", Monsters, Inc." y Bug's Life entre otras.

La historia no es exactamente tal como la conocemos, mi hijo estaba junto a mi cuando estaba viendo el corto y me dijo "yo conozco esta historia" y le dije "¿si?, ¿de que se trata?" y el me contesto: "de una princesa que le da un beso al sapo y el sapo se convierte en un principe" y yo le dije, "que lindo mi amor, pero creo que en esta película no pasa exactamente eso precisamente" el abrió sus ojos grandes y me dijo muy sorprendido "¿no?" Pero después de ver el corto me sonrió y en sus ojos vi que el entendió porque se lo dije :) pero no te lo digo para que lo veas y te enteres por ti misma.

La temporada navideña es siempre una bella época para pasar en familia, y que mejor que irse al cine y disfrutar de esta linda película. Siguiendo la tradición de las películas pasadas de Disney seguro será del deleite para todos.

Get ready to take your family to the theaters this holiday season! December 11th is the national release in the United States of "The Princess and the Frog." Number 95 in the list of Disney classic movies and, following the Disney tradition, I'm sure it will be a treat for the whole family.

This marks Disney's return to the traditional 2-D hand-drawn animated musical, reminiscent of classics like "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," and "Aladdin." It's a fairy tale centered in the City of New Orleans with music by Oscar winning composer Randy Newman ("Toy Story," "Monsters Inc.," "Bug's Life," among others).

But the story is not exactly as you may remember it. My son was next to me when I started watching the trailer and he said, "Mama, I know this story!" and I said, "Yes? What is it about?"and he responded, "...about a princess who kisses a frog and the frog becomes a prince." I said "that's very sweet honey, but I think this story is a little different." Estoy muy emocionada porque siempre a finales de año hay muy buenas películas en el cine, así que me estoy preparando. Una de las que está en mi lista es The Blind Side, una película familiar que narra la extraordinaria historia del jugador de futbol americano Michael Oher. Sandra Bullock es una de las protagonistas, y hasta ahora creo que no hay película que no haya visto de ella, ¡es sensacional!

Esta es la sinopsis: "Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) es un adolescente que se las arregla sobreviviendo por su cuenta prácticamente en las calles, y es descubierto por Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock). Cuando Leigh Ann se entera que Michael es compañero de clases de su hija, insiste al joven - vestido con pantalones cortos y una camiseta en el crudo frío del invierno - a que salga de la intemperie y sin dudarlo un minuto lo invita a pasar la noche en su residencia. Lo que comienza como un gesto de solidaridad se convierte en algo mucho mas profundo, mientras Michael pasa a formar parate de la familia a pesar de las grandes diferencias entre ambas partes.

Este nuevo entorno, pone al adolescente frente a desafios completamente diferentes. I'm very happy because we are getting close to holiday season and with it some great movies in theaters. One of the movies on my list to see is "The Blind Side." I've seen the trailer a few times and it seems a perfect movie to enjoy with family. Besides, Sandra Bullock is in it and I'm pretty sure I've seen almost all her movies, I think she is sensational!

The Blind Side is based on the true story of Michael Oher an All-American football star. Here is the synopsis:

"A homeless youngster from a broken home, Oher (Quinton Aaron) is taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do family who helps him fulfill his potential on and off the football field. At the same time, Oher's presence in the Touhys' lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own.

Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle."

This inspirational family movie releases next Friday, November 20, 2009, and features Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Kathy Bates and of course Quinton Aaron. Here is the trailer, just watching it makes my eyes water:
