Es además autora de "I Love Being a Mom" ("Me Encanta Ser Mamá), and co-autora de "I Like Being Catholic."

About the Author

Therese Borchard is the author of the hit daily blog, "Beyond Blue" on Beliefnet.com, one of the most popular columns on the site. Her blog appears weekly in The Huffington Post and she is becoming a top go-to expert in pop psychology. Her work has recently been cited in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

Her work has been featured in salon.com, Psychology Today, Real Simple, Redbook, Parenting, More, and Ladies Home Journal. She is the author of "I Love Being a Mom" (a Target selection), and co-author of "I Like Being Catholic." She resides in Annapolis, Maryland, with her husband and two young children.

From the Editor

"Whenever Therese Borchard was weathering a personal storm, and help was nowhere to be found, her one guiding light was the question, 'What would a therapist say?' The result was a sort of therapy scrapbook for rough days -a quick reference for anyone who needs a dose of encouragement, support, and tried and true ways to cope."

My Opinion

I've been a Therese's fan since I first read her book, "Beyond Blue," where she talks about her experience surviving depression and anxiety. She is quirky, she is real, she is funny, she is very honest, and she is not afraid to share her daily struggles, if doing so will help someone else. She is committed to educating people about mental health even if it means putting her own life out in the open for all to see. She writes about depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, and suicidal thoughts, among others topics.

"The Pocket Therapist" is like having a therapist, well, in your pocket, the book is small enough to carry in you purse and contains 144 tools, techniques, and thoughts that may help when you feel depressed, conflicted, or anxious. Therese adds her characteristic humorous twist to every page and I couldn't help but smile every time I finished reading each. Here is one example: She says every afternoon, between four thirty and six, "... the time of the day when all the processed sugar and red dye from the Superman cupcakes served at one of the birthday parties at my kids' school start to make my life a living hell," she sits in her favorite rocking chair and she is not allowed to insult herself or feel that she is in some way at fault for her children's behavior. I should try that!! :)

I found "The Pocket Therapist" a great way to stay away from negative thinking and a good resource for ideas on how to cope with depression and anxiety. I hope this book is translated into Spanish some day, I know some folk who would benefit from it.

Webinario - Slow Death By Rubber Duck - Webinar

ENGLISH VERSION BELOW

ENGLISH

A few weeks ago I started reading the new book "Slow Death By Rubber Duck" by Rick Smith, Executive Director of Environmental Defence, Canada, and Bruce Lourie, an influential environmental thinker and President of the Ivey Foundation.

This is a very interesting book which was born as a testimony of an experiment Rick and Bruce conducted. Over a four-day period they used their own bodies to measure the levels of toxic chemicals that a person (adult or child) can be exposed to using every day household products and eating packaged foods. The book tells the story about their experience as well as giving a deeper view into each chemical they were exposed to.

I will write a review of the book in the next few days; meanwhile, I would like to share an event happening tomorrow which is related to this book.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics will feature "Slow Death By Rubber Duck" author Rick Smith in its virtual book club Webinar, tomorrow April 6th, 5 p.m PT / 8 ET, if want to participate and hear more about reducing the toxic chemicals in your life, you can RSVP HERE.

I'll see you there!

How To Never Look Fat Again me encantó, definitivamente un libro especial para ayudarte a lucir siempre lo mejor posible.

"Raise your hand if you think you look fat. You're not alone. almost every woman I know thinks she does - even those who exercise every day, eat nothing but salads and salmon, and wear size six or less!"
Charla Krupp, from the introduction.

My Opinion

How many times have you stood in front of the mirror only to run back to the closet to find something else because you didn't like what you saw? This happens to me a lot. I'm always saying to myself, "I have to lose a little here or there or cover this part or that, " without considering that maybe my clothes just aren't appropriate for my body type. Of course it wouldn't be bad for me to lose a few ounces either, but you get my point.

Charla has created a book I think most every woman would like to have. Simply and with humor she explains which colors, designs, and fabrics we can use and what tricks we can do to make us look our best whatever our body type.

"How to Never Look Fat Again," is 250 pages of tips, great ideas, and photos which show exactly what she means. It begins with an "Are your clothes making you look fat?" quiz and then addresses each area from the top of the head to the tips of the toes. Special sections are "sprinkled" throughout the book with headings like, "Swap-Outs," "If You're Petite...," "If You're Size 14 & Up...,""Don't Waste a Penny on...," "Don't You Dare...," and "Thinner by Tonight!"

I really enjoyed "How To Never Look Fat Again" and think it is definitely a special book for helping us to always look our best. You can read an excerpt here, follow the book tour (check the list below), if you would like to purchase it, check it out here, or if you want a chance to win one of three copies, keep reading.
